------------------------------------------

### 8.1 How It Works {#_8_1_how_it_works}

VG30 uses a 3-level priority engine to automatically manage all growing parameters --- no manual tuning needed:

|            Mode             |                 When to Use                  |                             Effect                              |
|:---------------------------:|:--------------------------------------------:|:---------------------------------------------------------------:|
| Smart | Daily use (default) | Balanced parameters for steady growth |
| Thrive | Want faster harvest (great for leafy greens) | Increases light duration \& frequency; \~15% shorter grow cycle |
| Eco | Lower electricity usage or low-demand plants | Reduces brightness \& watering; \~15% longer grow cycle |
| Vacation (no auto-refill) | Away for several days | Greatly reduces energy \& water use; \~30% longer grow cycle |
| Vacation (with auto-refill) | Away but have auto water refill | Maintains normal parameters |

|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| ![604f1f81935263056115bd382d8f33ee](https://image.next.vivosun.com/asset/width-60/picture/604f1f81935263056115bd382d8f33ee.png) | AI growing modes activate the light at 7:00 AM. The Smart Mode operates lighting for 12 hours per day; other modes feature different daily lighting durations. |

### 8.2 Scene Modes {#_8_2_scene_modes}

VG30 automatically adjusts its operating mode to suit your living scenario. To switch between the 4 scenario modes below, simply tap 'Daily routine' in the app.
**1. Home Mode**
Suitable for daily household use. The unit automatically schedules watering and lighting cycles based on plant growth demands.
**2. Focus Mode**
Designed for undisturbed work sessions. It dims the grow light and watering, delays all app notifications for 1 hour to avoid distractions.
**3. Sleep Mode**
Customize your sleep time window. Within the set period, automatic watering and lighting will be suspended; all schedules will resume normally outside this window to prevent sleep disruptions.
![711811f6b038504ed55fdb32eaa2497f](https://image.next.vivosun.com/asset/width-921/picture/711811f6b038504ed55fdb32eaa2497f.png)

10. Using the Seedling Tray {#_10_using_the_seedling_tray}
----------------------------------------------------------

### 10.1 Seedling Tray Overview {#_10_1_seedling_tray_overview}

The 12-cell seedling tray is integrated into the water tank lid, allowing you to start seeds without taking up main growing positions.

### 10.2 Steps {#_10_2_steps}

1. Prepare the tray
* Place growing medium into each cell of the tray

2. Position the tray
* Place the tray into the dedicated slot on the water tank lid

* Close the humidity dome (keep vents closed during germination, open once seedlings emerge)

3. During germination
* You can use nutrient solution from the main tank to water the seedlings

* Keep the bottom of the tray moist (the overflow gap is \~1 cm)

4. Transplanting
* When seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, transplant them into the main growing cups

* Gently remove the seedling (with medium) and place into a grow basket

* Update the plant info in the App

11. Using the Trellis System {#_11_using_the_trellis_system}
------------------------------------------------------------

### 11.1 Requirements {#_11_1_requirements}

* Climbing plants (tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, passionfruit, etc.) **MUST be planted in the left or right bottom cups (first row)**

* Bottom cups have a larger water reservoir, and roots can grow into the main tank --- use a root bag if you want to restrict root growth

### 11.2 Installing the Trellis Rope {#_11_2_installing_the_trellis_rope}

1. Pull out the retractable trellis arms on both sides of the top cover

2. Take the trellis rope assembly (spool + rope) and hook the spool under the trellis arm

3. Wrap the loose end of the rope around the plant --- you may need to adjust and re-wrap weekly as the plant grows

4. Each rope extends up to 11.5 ft (3.5 m); adjust to your desired length

### 11.3 Trellis Light Contro {#_11_3_trellis_light_contro}

* Left and right trellis lights are independently switchable

* The trellis light must be manually enabled. Once activated, it synchronises with the main light schedule.

|---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| ![604f1f81935263056115bd382d8f33ee](https://image.next.vivosun.com/asset/width-60/picture/604f1f81935263056115bd382d8f33ee.png) | **Replacement trellis rope assemblies** are available through support. |

12. Auto Water Refill Mode (Optional Accessory) {#_12_auto_water_refill_mode_optional_accessory}
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

### 12.1 Requirements {#_12_1_requirements}

* Requires the separately sold Auto Water Refill Kit

* Suitable for homes with an accessible angle valve (under sink or near toilet)

* Once installed, the device can run unattended for extended periods

### 12.2 Installation Steps {#_12_2_installation_steps}

1. Shut off water: Close the angle valve where you'll install the T-valve

2. Install T-valve: Mount the T-valve between the angle valve and your faucet supply hose

3. Connect PE tube: Insert one end of the PE tube into the T-valve quick-connect; push firmly to secure

### 12.3 Safety Protections {#_12_3_safety_protections}

* **Normally-closed solenoid valve:** Automatically closes if power is lost

* **Mechanical float switch:** Independent of the control board; cuts power to the solenoid if water exceeds 100%

* ![fd848296f738750264ac21c2ac2aca7b](https://image.next.vivosun.com/asset/width-63/picture/fd848296f738750264ac21c2ac2aca7b.png) If you hear a continuous long alarm, check whether the water level is too high

### 12.4 Notes {#_12_4_notes}
